Natural Gas prices for the 2018/2019 winter season were the lowest we had seen in a few years. With the bulk of natural gas companies stock piling gas for the 2019/2020 season, it would appear prices are going to be even lower for this coming season. With 2016 being the lowest prices we’ve seen in recent years, it looks like this winter might be an all-time low for us.

Electricity prices are looking stable, and expensive. Many people are heating their homes with electric baseboard heaters, and/or electric space heaters. They can be convenient but are also quite costly. When we look at the energy costs from last year, we can see how much more expensive electricity was than natural gas.

Switching from electric heat to gas heat is going to be one of the best ways to save money next winter. Taking it a step further and implementing zone heating can help that budget even more. Utilizing natural gas or propane in just the rooms you use the most, can help drive down those energy costs, too.

Every year Enbridge Energy releases the average cost it takes to heat a home in the United States. This spring they found that the average home saves $1,208.00 when switching from electricity to natural gas. You can find out how much you can save by using the Energy Depot energy cost calculator. It helps show you exactly how much you can save by switching to a natural gas heat source. If you are looking to reduce the cost of heating your home next season, the best thing you can do is switch to natural gas or liquid propane.
